Group (A)  (Sushies)


Non-swimmers 
(Sushies)                          

This class is for children who are unable to swim without some sort of buoyancy aid. Children must be able to swim 5 metres on their front and back and submerge head confidently before progressing. This category introduces children to the swimming environment and develops water confidence. Progress to Beginners Class.

 
Beginners 
(Sushies)

Once children are able to swim 5 metres on their front and back they will start to experiment more with the different strokes and work on technique practices. When they consistently swim 10 metres on their front and back and are completely confident in the water then they can progress to a Deep Beginner class that will be instructed in deep water to build their stamina. Progress to Deep Beginners.

 

Group (B)  (Dolphines)


Improvers 1 
(Dolphines)

Children must be able to swim 25 metres of Front Crawl with an over water” arm recovery and 25 metres of Back Crawl confidently. They should be able to demonstrate a good technique in breastroke and be completely confident in deep water. At this stage children are introduced to a range of water skills working towards streamlining and efficient breathing techniques.

 

Group (C)  (Sharks)

 

  • The Sharks groups will be advanced floating,
  • Sushies and Dolphins aim to become Sharks

    Improvers 2 (Sharks)

    Children must have efficient techniques for Front Crawl, Back stroke, Breastroke and Butterfly. They should also be able to perform a standing dive swimming lengths. Progress to Advanced.

    Advanced (Sharks)

    Children should be able to execute all competitive turns and racing starts. This class is ideal for older children who wish to continue their swimming but without entering the competitive environment.
